Gigantoraptor Erlianensis

This is the largest oviraptor found in the world to date. In general, oviraptorosaurs are less than 2 m long, but the Gigantoraptor erlianensis fossil has a length of 7.52 m, a body height of 3.55 m and a head height of 5.21 m, and it weighed approximately 1,400 kg. Its body shape is comparable to the famous Tyrannosaurs. This oviraptor fossil is similar to the fossil birds, and it represents a transitional type of oviraptorosaur. Its femur is similar to that of birds, and its forelimbs might have been covered with feathers. It had no teeth but had a large beak. These bone characteristics clearly indicate that Gigantoraptor erlianensis was an advanced theropod between a dinosaur and a bird (Fig. 6).
