Structure of Higher Education System
Description
Higher education is provided by one university and several other public or private higher education institutions.
Stages of studies
University level first stage
Bachelor's degree
The first stage of studies leads, in three to four years of study, to a Bachelor's degree.
University level second stage
Master degree; Medical Doctor
The Master degree is awarded after two years of study, the Doctor in Medicine degree is awarded after three years of study and internship, following upon a Bachelor's degree.

Admission to university-level studies
Name of Secondary school credential required: Voorbereidend Wetenschappelijk Onderwijs
Alternatives to credentials: Bridging year to university after HAVO Certificate. Those who wish to study at university but have not completed pre-university college advanced level education can sit for the annual Special Entrance Examination.
